By the end of this lesson you will have:
Ensure your evaluation uses evidence from Testing (Section 5) to support claims, as per the brief's integrated approach.
From page 10 of the official brief:
“You should evaluate the final artefact that you designed and created. You should suggest, with justification, how your artefact could be improved or iterated upon in the future.”
This section must demonstrate critical reflection on how well the artefact addresses forest management challenges, using specific evidence.
This is worth 10 marks: 5 for evaluation, 5 for suggestions with justification.
Answer these questions in your evaluation (150–200 words):
Use evidence like your test results.
Suggest 2–3 specific iterations (100–150 words total). For each:
| Improvement | Justification |
|---|---|
| e.g., Add GPS module | To track exact forest locations, improving wildfire response accuracy |
| e.g., Use machine learning in model | For better predictions from historical data, making it more adaptive to climate change |
| e.g., Solar power for hardware | To allow long-term deployment in remote forests without batteries |
Ensure each justification references a limitation identified in your evaluation or research (e.g., from Section 1).
For example (approx 300 words):
5. Evaluation
My final artefact [briefly describe]. It meets the basic requirements by [evidence]. For advanced, the model [evidence]. Strengths include [2–3 points]. Limitations are [1–2 points]. Overall, it effectively addresses [theme] but could be more robust.
For improvements, first [idea 1] because [justification]. Second [idea 2] to [justification]. These iterations would make it more practical for real forest management.
[Include 1–2 screenshots or data visuals if under word limit, labelled for clarity].
